No man who worships education has got the best out of education.... Without a gentle contempt for education no man's education is complete.The aim of education should be to teach us rather how to think, than what to think - rather to improve our minds, so as to enable us to think for ourselves, than to load the memory with thoughts of other men. An educational system isn't worth a great deal if it teaches young people how to make a living but doesn't teach them how to make a life Nations have recently been led to borrow billions for war; no nation has ever borrowed largely for education. Probably, no nation is rich enough to pay for both war and civilization. We must make our choice; we cannot have both.
